Chelsea’s change in stance on winger they wanted £20m for should bring a move at last

Yesterday afternoon saw Matt Law drop his latest Chelsea transfer column, and while it had lots of new news, it also had some lines which we could have predicted way back at the end of last season. Chelsea break stance on Raheem Sterling loan – again Raheem Sterling playing on the preseason tour. The headline was that Chelsea are now prepared to consider loan proposals for Raheen Sterling. That has felt inevitable for some time now. There was no interest in buying him last summer, then he had a poor season on loan with Arsenal. Why would there now be more interest than a year ago? Even offering him out essentially for free doesn’t work because of his vast £300,000 a week wages.…

Chelsea set to deliver Premier League nightmare as Enzo Maresca unlocks transfer masterplan

Who needs a full pre-season anyway? Chelsea look to have hit their stride without even a week of training as Enzo Maresca’s side completed a weekend double header with consecutive wins over testing opposition. On paper, both Milan and Bayer Leverkusen should have been reasonable benchmarks to pit Chelsea with, even if they were likely lacking match sharpness and conditioning. As it happened, Erik ten Hag and Max Allegri will have left Stamford Bridge with questions over their own sides’ states of readiness instead. Despite being crowned as the World Champions not even one month ago, Chelsea arrived back home with a sense of uncertainty. How much would their later holiday impact the start of the season and how long would new signings need to…

Chelsea star put up for sale despite Enzo Maresca transfer request

Chelsea are reportedly willing to sell Renato Veiga despite Enzo Maresca demanding a new defender following Levi Colwill’s injury. The Blues boss has been left light at the back after Colwill suffered a cruel ACL tear in a training session. The injury is expected to keep the England international out for most of the 2025-26 season. Wesley Fofana, who missed most of last season and the Blues’ Club World Cup triumph, could be rushed back for the club’s first Premier League game against Crystal Palace next weekend. Benoit Badiashile is also injured, leaving Maresca with only Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Jorrel Hato and the inexperienced Aaron Anselmino as Maresca’s only fit senior centre-backs. Utility man Veiga, a signing from last summer, can also play in the middle…

RB Leipzig make Xabi Simons decision amid Chelsea transfer interest

Chelsea target Xavi Simons has not been included in RB Leipzig’s pre-season friendly against Atalanta this afternoon. The Blues are plotting their latest move in the transfer window and have pinpointed the Dutch talent as their newest target. football.london reported this week that Enzo Maresca’s side were preparing an opening bid for Simons after progress in talks with the Bundesliga side. The 22-year-old opened negotiations with the Stamford Bridge club last week with personal terms being agreed days later. Chelsea have already bolstered their attacking ranks with the signings of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, while reports suggest highly-rated Netherlands centre-back Jorrel Hato is close to reaching an agreement over a switch to west London. Simons’ absence from the Leipzig squad provides the last…

Chelsea can rectify £52m transfer mistake with one simple move

The transfer merry-go-round is well under way and for Chelsea, one prospective incoming hints at a possible departure from Stamford Bridge. The Blues are pursuing a move for Xavi Simons and if they were to sign the 22-year-old RB Leipzig attacker, then an exit for Christopher Nkunku becomes increasingly more likely. It has not quite worked out for Nkunku, who has multiple suitors in the Premier League this summer, at Chelsea. It has by no means been a disaster either. The 27-year-old Frenchman, if the FIFA Club World Cup final victory over Paris Saint-Germain is to be his last appearance for the Blues, will leave Stamford Bridge with 18 goals in 62 matches in all competitions. Not the output Chelsea were expecting, but given…

Chelsea seal two new exits and step up fire sale to fund transfer moves

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sell young defender Ishe Samuels-Smith to Strasbourg for £6.5million, as they press ahead with a fire sale to balance the books. The deal for the 19-year-old follows a £43.7m deal for Joao Felix to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. Chelsea are also trying to offload Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Renato Veiga and Axel Disasi, as well as Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu and Armando Broja. They have already sold Djordje Petrovic, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke this summer. Samuels-Smith never made a first-team appearance for Chelsea in two years at Stamford Bridge after joining from Everton for £4m in 2023. Chelsea recoup most of the £45m they paid Atletico Madrid for Felix last summer. Felix made…

Chelsea bag remarkable fee for Joao Felix as £42.7m misfit seals Saudi Arabia transfer

Joao Felix has left Chelsea to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr on a permanent deal. The 25-year-old Portugal international moved to Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid last summer, having had an earlier spell with the Blues on loan in 2023. He made 20 appearances for Enzo Maresca’s side in the first half of the season – but started only three Premier League games – before leaving for AC Milan on loan in January. ‘We thank Joao for his efforts across his two spells at the club and wish him well for the future,’ Chelsea said in the statement. Felix has signed a two-year contract with his new club. Al-Nassr have reportedly paid an initial £26million transfer fee, although add-ons could see that rise as high as £43million – close to the…

Bid Rejected: Chelsea have been sent a counteroffer after first official bid knocked back

Chelsea have seen a first official offer to sign a player rejected and they have been sent a counteroffer in response. According to reports last night, Chelsea have seen their first offer rejected for Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, but it’s not over. Chelsea are busy in the market right now and as well as Hato, they are trying to secure another deal to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig as well in what has been called the ‘double dutch deal’ by many Chelsea fans who have been excited by this prospect this week. But despite Chelsea wanting to sign these two players, it is Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa who is being called the dream Chelsea signing this summer window, which will…

Gyokeres Arsenal reaction telling as Newcastle see £25m bid rejected

The transfer window is hotting up as Premier League clubs put their squads together for next season, which is only a few weeks away. Arsenal are trying to complete a deal for Viktor Gyokeres, though negotiations are proving messy with his current club Sporting CP. He has been a target of Manchester United, who have completed the signings of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. They are unlikely to stop there, however, with another striker and a goalkeeper on INEOS’ agenda before the end of the summer. Meanwhile Liverpool and Chelsea continue to splash the cash. Arne’s Slot’s side will take their spending to the £300million mark through Hugo Ekitike and if Luis Diaz leaves, another forward is expected to come in. Difficult to do Chelsea transfer deal actually looks like it will go through soon now

One difficult Chelsea transfer deal to do actually looks like it is going to go through soon now as things heat up there. And it’s not just there where things are heating up either, we have some other big stories to report on this morning as Chelsea’s transfer window continues to get very tasty indeed in terms of new signings at least. However, the outgoings are not great so far, and we are yet to really see any proper advancements in any big sales. Even the Renato Veiga to Atletico Madrid deal has apparently now broken down due to Chelsea’s ‘rigid approach’ in transfer negotiations. There was some very good news late last night though as The Blues agreed personal terms…
